Growing it out without the awkward month
The gap between short and long is where most people quit. It doesn’t have to look like a mistake.

The gap between short and long is where most people quit. Weeks six through twelve are the ones that make you book a cut you didn’t want.
The trick is that growing it out is not the absence of cutting. It is a different kind of cutting — taking weight out of the sides while the top catches up, so the silhouette stays deliberate instead of turning into a triangle.
Come in every six weeks during the grow-out and say the words “I’m growing it out.” A barber who knows that will remove almost nothing from the length and everything from the width.
